I personally prefer 'all-out', outlandish imagery but sometimes those paying just want something simple---not as much fun to do, but part and parcel of this business if you want to be a 'commercial artist'.
To be honest, all that blank empty space often looks more pleasing to the eye----easier money, too!
Added for back-up/storage purposes, and nice to add in some properly finished drawing for a change.
