New Directions

Hiya Readers: sorry I have been totally off-line for a week:  last week I got a brand new desktop but to be honest I have  in recent times been so 'scunnered' with computers in general that I seriously considered packing in the internet altogether:  I had no sound in my computer for 9 months, and some sites were practically un-view-able. I stopped watching TV [100 per cent]   in 2003 [13 years ago at the time of writing] and I have never missed it so I am sure I could do the same with the internet...I am also one of the miniscule 7 per cent of the population who has never owned a mobile phone.



However, the good news is I have my  computer sound back at last, I obviously have a brand new hard-drive and this new computer I have is more modern and advanced and therefore speedier---so if it continues in this healthier vein, I may well stick with the internet...any more annoying problems and I will more than likely pack it all  in permanently, though.


The week I spent absolutely computer-free was a total relief, to be brutally honest........


I still have to test if my older DELL scanner will work on this new computer [the seller could not guarantee this] which, of course, is a necessary element regarding the assembly of this site and it's imagery.


The worst that will happen will mean I need a new scanner/printer.....I will find out shortly.



Which brings us to my newer-style cartoons, the first of these can be seen below......



---in Jan-Mar this year of 2016 I sold my first-ever pro satire gags to a North American magazine------the fruits of these labors will be screened pronto, beginning with the first piece, as seen below---------

THIS ITEM was a one-off, fairly elaborate Christmas-themed item in which the criteria was to recreate the ambience of the late 1960s/ very early 70s humour comics put out by IPC/ Fleetway---you know the sort of thing if you are into this stuff: Whizzer and Chips, Cor!!, and many more. ---in other words. 'no outright copying of established characters ' but I had to put over the basic ambience for them. Great fun, though clearly, this one took a fair bit of time to put together. Repeat Business [3]

TODAY'S ITEM is the fourth---and last, to date--------customized tailored caricature job I got offered by a kindly gent who liked my stuff enough to ask me back a few times. Great fun as usual and again I liked to do it in  fairly elaborate technique-style. In Production [6]

HERE I HAVE ADDED the second sheet of artwork for my 'ice-cream' mini-strip; that is almost all of the character stuff/props complete on this one:  I just have to drop in the simple background plates. Although as revealed last posting I am not too sure of the copyright aspects as regards THE FLY, my adaptation of a King Kong-like character as seen here should be sound------he is just used as a supporting character, similar to adding in a stock vampire, or a Frankensteins' Monster-type 'also-ran' character------more on this later. New strip stuff is well under way for further inclusion on here. is it just me, or is that a wee bit of subversion I subconciously added to the double-cornet ice-cream? ENJOI! Rab-erto
