Sexism-A-Go-Go [2]
SOME READERS OF THIS SITE may well have noticed that I have something of a penchant for drawing 'sexy young ladies', ---and this is true: I reckon women just look good and are naturally great subjects for inclusion in my cartoons. Drawing guys is OK, but the pneumatic, aerodynamic composition of the female form is a much more attractive prospect, for all sorts or reasons. Drawing male characters is just so over-familiar and overdone, I often switch over to sketching ladies: men look boring, they are shapeless blobs in comparison.
As much as I love drawing this sort of thing, in today's Political Correct , over-analyzed social climate, the commercial opportunities for selling this sort of thing are dwindling away like much else in cartoonery..........there was a US strip by Frank Cho I liked, called LIBERTY MEADOWS which was brilliantly drawn, however it took a lot of flak from feminists who decried a sexy young lady character [not unlike the sort of thing I have done seen here].
THE PICTURES ON THE WALL:
Restraint has been employed by me here: there is no lechery involved by any of my characters: cat-character Jet Blanc looks a bit unsure of sexual matters, and the dog Vibes seems to be going through a 'stirring of the loins' at best. B.B. himself is far too young, of course, to see mammaries as anything else than feeding vessels ,and he expresses his lack of interest here most forcefully.
I would create seperate characters if I wanted to do do a 'randy' gag: my characters here are kept more innocent in intention.
The use of coloured lines here help the softness of the image a lot here: I got a lot of great help on this from a very good colorist on a cartoon forum.
The self-same forum never produced any artists who were especially good at drawing women: a common shortcoming by many artists. including many pros.
I am not claiming to be the best thing since sliced bread:-------- but at the very least, I am not satisfied with drawing ladies that resemble Women Wrestlers.
