Lady Liberty: Rough Toons

I am picking up cartoon work again, which has to take priority as it pays me, meaning I have a lot less time to turn out the polished images added on here, of late:  however one or two almost-completed polished items will be screened shortly, but for the next few weeks, I will be mostly adding on 'quicko roughs' as I can belt these out in minutes apiece----I also wish to keep this site ongoing and regularly updated.


I am sticking, for the moment at least, to variations on the STATUE OF LIBERTY images  as there is a whole seam to mine there, I reckon: also, I have to rein in the endless new projects I have started just over the past few months--since December 2014 I have kick-started:

Five new concepts,---in four cases, developed from early roughs through to polished finish------ this is  on top of freshly-minted Baby Boomer material that is still ongoing,----all of  this  is more than enough to keep me occupied for eons to come-----although I will undoubtedly hatch yet more all-new concepts, I am happy to stick with the above ideas for the meantime; and as I have cited many times on here, these quick rough sketches are my absolute favorite part of the cartoon process, so I am happy to do more of these over the following weeks:


I have already completed a fair few of these roughs. ---I will stagger them out over the coming days.

LADY LIBERTY and KOONG KING are merely supporting characters to the four main BABY BOOMER characters, but are more than capable of holding their own:

THIS ITEM was a one-off, fairly elaborate Christmas-themed item in which the criteria was to recreate the ambience of the late 1960s/ very early 70s humour comics put out by IPC/ Fleetway---you know the sort of thing if you are into this stuff: Whizzer and Chips, Cor!!, and many more. ---in other words. 'no outright copying of established characters ' but I had to put over the basic ambience for them. Great fun, though clearly, this one took a fair bit of time to put together. Repeat Business [3]

TODAY'S ITEM is the fourth---and last, to date--------customized tailored caricature job I got offered by a kindly gent who liked my stuff enough to ask me back a few times. Great fun as usual and again I liked to do it in  fairly elaborate technique-style. HERE I HAVE ADDED the second sheet of artwork for my 'ice-cream' mini-strip; that is almost all of the character stuff/props complete on this one:  I just have to drop in the simple background plates. Although as revealed last posting I am not too sure of the copyright aspects as regards THE FLY, my adaptation of a King Kong-like character as seen here should be sound------he is just used as a supporting character, similar to adding in a stock vampire, or a Frankensteins' Monster-type 'also-ran' character------more on this later. New strip stuff is well under way for further inclusion on here. is it just me, or is that a wee bit of subversion I subconciously added to the double-cornet ice-cream? ENJOI! Rab-erto
